Tarte Cosmetics Clay Play Face Shaping Palette
As you can see from the image this palette has a rectangular shape and it is quite large.
The pattern on it is absolutely stunning it kind of gives me the late summer and early autumn vibes where everything gets a little cozy and colorful.
I bought mine on Tartecosmetics.com and paid for it $46 which to me is a very fair price considering the amount and quality of product you get. ( wink-wink on tarte’s site they always offer some kind off discount code so you can get it even cheaper than that 🙂 )
As far as I know, you can get this product at Sephora and Ulta as well. But if you live in Europe or in a country where Sephora.com doesn’t ship your only option where you can get it is tartecosmetics.com. ( If you need more information on how the whole process goes when you order from Tarte outside the U.S, you can check a previews post that I wrote on the whole thing)
And this is what the palette looks when you open it up!
It appears to me like they where trying to categorise it in three sections which i totally get if they where going for that.
So the fist quad would be suited for more people with more fair complexion, the second quad would be geared more toward people with a medium skin tone and the third quad would be more suited for people with a deeper complexion.
But this shouldn’t mean that you are limited to just using those shade that ” suite” your skin tone the most. I pretty much mix and mach every shade for example I use the deeper bronzer as an eyeshadow since it is to dark for me to use it as an actual bronzer.
The way this palette is described is that it’s like spanx for your face meaning that you can contour your face including your eyes as well. And I think that it really does a good job on that.
The palette covers it all. You get bronzers/contour shades, eyeshadow that can double up as liner and even as brow powders.
This palette is an all matt palette and it is very versatile , i think this palette would work out for people will very fair complexion as well for those who have a more deeper complexes.
To me this palette is my comfort zone palette! It may look like a basic palette and even a little boring, but in reality these shades are the ones that I reach for every day.
The pigmentation is excellent . They do not have any fall out they blend like a dream and wear for a really looooong time without fading away throughout the day.
The bronzer/contour powders are really pigmented I would recommend going in with a light hand because that’s all you need. But even if you go a little ham with them it is not a problem since they blend so well.
The way I use the palette:
I use the first two bronzer shades (Terracotta and Dessert) to bronze and contour the perimeter of my face. Than I set me eyeshadow primer with any of the three lightest shades in the palette (Solstice , Sand , Instinct) and than go in with the other shades in the palette depending on what look i’m feeling for that day. To highlight the inner corner of my eyes and my brow bone I also use those three lighter shades in the palette.
For my eyebrows I go with the shades Dunes and Smoke, witch have a great cool undertone so they make great brow powers.
And if I’m feeling the liner I’ll go with the shade Onyx in the palette, witch by the why DID YOU SEE THAT BLACK thats what I wanna scream every time after I use that shade. It is the blackest black that I own.
If you are that person that likes those extra 5 minutes of sleep in the morning , this is the palette you are looking for.
This palette is good for everyone it’s great for you who are getting ready to go back to school and need something to pamper your look but still not spend 2 hours in the morning on glamming, or for someone who is super busy with work or even for someone who is traveling a lot and doesn’t want to carry a suitcase full of makeup.
This is the first quad swathed.

Here another picture with the whole shades swatched together.
The shades as formulated with amazonian clay and with mineral pigments. They have vanilla extract as well wich makes these shades smell really good just like their other eyeshadow palettes.
And as always with Tarte products the palette is formulated without paragons, formulated without mineral oil, formulated without phthalates, formulated without sodium lauryl sulfates, formulated without gluten.
And Tarte is a cruelty free brand for all of you who care about our little furry friends 🙂
